4.  Membership Secretary

4.1.  Terms of Reference

Responsible for all membership matters.


4.2. Main Objectives

  • Respond to queries from potential and existing members about ISACA, benefits of membership and membership details or problems.
  • Act as a focal point for ideas on enhancing membership benefits.
  • Expand membership numbers through new joiners and improved retention rates.

4.3. List of Tasks

Monthly:

  • Forward queries for information on ISACA, London Chapter, membership etc to Chapter Administrator.
  • Copy the monthly file received from International to a local computer to allow for swift response to membership queries.
  • Forward to Chapter Administrator the monthly file received from International to allow for her to update her records.
  • Liase with Chapter Administrator to ensure membership records are accurate, up to date and reconcilable to US records.
  • Report on Membership Secretary activity to monthly committee meeting.

Periodically:

  • Respond to and progress suggestions for enhancing members' benefits - arising from members or Chapter Committee.
  • Write to new members, welcoming them to the Chapter (attachment 1).
  • Ascertain non-renewing members by comparing pre-purge file (April) with post purge file (May).
  • Write to non-renewing identified as a result of the above exercise to encourage continuation of membership and provide feedback to committee on any significant,  common themes that prompted non-renewal (attachment 2).
  • With CISA Co-ordinator and Chapter Administrator encourage CISA candidates to join an ISACA Chapter by writing a letter to each one (attachment 3).
  • Refer any CISA related queries to the CISA co-ordinator with a copy to Administrator
  • Report to the membership by an article in each edition of Datawatch.
  • Conduct analysis of membership profile as required by the Management Committee.
  • Conduct a membership drive to recruit new members in underrepresented industry sectors.
  • Conduct occasional survey of entiremembership (attachment 4).

4.5.  Amount of Time Required

  • 8 hours per month.

4.6.  Positive Aspects

  • Involvement, and some responsibility, for growth in membership particularly through new members and improved retention rates.
  • Through London Chapter Committee and liaison with other chapters support more general activity to increase membership and creation of new chapters.

4.7.  Challenges

  • Difficulty of prompting feedback on perceived quality of current membership
    benefits.
